After struggling for 15 minutes at Starbucks to get internet, I finally decided the problem wasn’t on my end and went to the counter to see if one of the baristas knew what was up with the connection.
She looked at me, tipped her blond head to the left and said, “There’s this symbol thingy on your computer – it’s blue and shaped like an ‘e’. It opens a program called ex-plor-er. Have you tried to click it?”
I think I’ve grown since leaving on the BlissQuest – See how I didn’t lunge over the counter, grab her by her skanky gold hoop earrings and ram her pretty face and vacant eyes into my upraised knee? See how much I’ve grown?
That didn’t stop me from glaring her down and saying, “Yes.” as calmly as possible.
She shrugged and let out a giggle that made the hair on the back of my neck prickle, “I guess the connection is down…”
Although I consider myself a “people-person” there is an obvious flaw in my ability to deal well with condescending and or stupid people. I seem to be lacking the necessary filters for social interaction with such persons, and I just don’t know what to do about it….
