Ohmigod. I’m so excited!

This morning I was able to negotiate and get a quote on the music rights I want for the book trailer at a reasonable cost. I can’t even describe how excited I am about this development.

A film friend has already offered to help me do the filming at an affordable rate. And several other artists in my circle are happily pitching in to help make this happen.

It feels – amazing.

I’m super relieved too, because I’d fallen in love with the music before we knew if we could get it at a cost that wouldn’t make the project impossible. Remember, we’re not even working on shoe-string budget here, because we can’t afford the shoes or the strings. We’re sort of on the bare-sock budget, with a hole in the heel.

Yeah, that classy.

But note to self for future reference – don’t fall in love with composer scores until you know if they are something you can even touch. Seriously. Why even do that to yourself?

So, I guess the next steps:

Follow up on the music contract, get that thing signed and breathe a sigh of relief.

Finish the sixth draft and re-write from all agent’s feedback and new beta readers (have finalized the new anchors, character developments, smooth out rough voice spots and world tweaks). Polish again.

Prep for copyedit.

By then it will be January 2012 – then the game changes completely.
